Canvas Making Process

In preparation for my return to Glasgow and mostly to help me feel (a little bit) less stressed about going into my final year (oh dear), I prepared 7 canvases this week!

In all honestly, I have never felt too keen on making my own canvases but i have always wanted try. Over the lockdown period i set myself the goal of working out how to make a canvas - not just small ones, but biiiig ones too. This proved to be a great lockdown challenge and one I am grateful I thought of, since I am now a lot more confident with the process.

There is also something truly special about creating a painting that has been entirely made by hand. From cutting the wooden frame to size, to priming the canvas, to the final additions of paint, all coming together to make the finished piece. Definitely very satisfying.
